Chocolate Walnut Loaf

I've had this amazing recipe for months now and have even tried it out a few times, but never really got around to posting it. So here's this delicious chocolate walnut loaf recipe that i'm sure you'll love as much as me.

100 g plain dark chocolate (broken into squares)

125 g butter, softened
125 g caster sugar
2 eggs (beaten)
125 g self-raising flour
1 tbsp cocoa power
1 cup of chopped walnuts

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees. Lightly oil a cake tin and line with a layer of baking paper.
  2. Put the chocolate in a bowl over a saucepan of very hot water. Stir until melted. Leave to cool.
  3. Cream together butter and sugar until pale and fluffy. Gradually add the beaten eggs, beating well after each addition.
  4. Sift in the flour and fold with a spoon.
  5. Gently fold the cocoa powder and chocolate into the mixture.
  6. Fold in the chopped walnuts.
  7. Pour cake mixture into prepared tin.
  8. Bake in preheated oven for 40 minutes.
  9. Let it cool for a few minutes and dust with icing sugar or cocoa powder!
